Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the early candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the team's 10-match winless beginning to the Premier League season.

And both candidates - both of who have historic associations to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a strong candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club board as they start the search of appointing a new manager.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising appointment given he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is out of work meaning the club would not be required to provide any compensation.
